Fish Diseases and Fish ImmunologyReykjavik, Iceland 6 - 9 September 2008 Radisson SAS Hotel Saga Hagatorg, 107 Reykjavik, Iceland Meeting's Aim and Scope: The understanding of infectious fish diseases and the causative agents, like viruses, bacteria and parasites, has been growing fast lately in the international scientific society. In parallel there is an increasing knowledge on host-pathogen interaction, including fish immunology and genome analysis of pathogens and several fish species. The aim of the meeting is to gather scientists from Europe and other parts of the world to discuss the recent developments in the field. The host institute (Institute for Experimental Pathology, University of Iceland at Keldur, homepage: www.keldur.hi.is), has made remarkable developments in the research field in the recent past and there are ongoing experiments of interest. The conference is planned as a 60th anniversary of the host institute and sponsored by FEMS (homepage: www.fems-microbiology.org) and one session is sponsored by NordForsk (homepage: www.nordforsk.org). Special emphasis is on supporting the attendance of young scientists. The conference is planned for three days and will start with a plenary lecture given by dr. Laura Brown on Host-Pathogen Interaction. The sessions will include fish immunology, viral diseases of fish and causative agents, bacterial diseases of fish and causative agents, fish parasitology, communication networks in marine bacteria and diseases in cold water fish species.
