Day 2
Reykjavík and the Golden Circle and the South
Short orientation of the city before heading out of town to visit some of the most famous spots in Iceland,
Thingvellir National Park, Gullfoss the golden waterfall and Geysir, the geothermal area. Thingvellir National Park
is the original site of the oldest existing parliament in the world. Gullfoss the golden watarfall is the queen of
Iceland´s waterfall and Geysir area is a geothermal field where hot springs explode and pools of mud bubble.
We spend the night in a nice hotel Fludir in a small village specializing in green house industries, growing fresh
vegetables and fruits with the use of electricity from our geothermal power plants.
Dinner at the hotel which includes fresh strawberries from a neighbouring greenhouse.

Day 3
The South Coast to Höfn
After breakfast we continue along the South Coast visiting the black basalt sand beaches by village Vik and
the cliff formations at Dyrholaey. We drive along the glaciers such as Eyjafjallajökull (latest eruption in 2010),
Myrdalsjökull and Europe´s largest glacier Vatnajökull. A must to see is the Glacier lagoon Jökulsárlón, which
provided the dramatic setting for scenes in the James Bond film Die another Day!
Accommodation in the fishing village of Höfn. Dinner at a lobster restaurant in Höfn.

Day 4
Höfn - Egilsstadir
We explore the beautiful eastern costal region. We follow the eastern fjords to the small but friendly village
of Egilsstadir. On the way we visit the spectacular collection of rocks and minerals at Petra´s stone collection
in the village of Stöðvarfjörður.
Accommodation and dinner at Hotel Herað in Egilsstaðir or similar.

Day 5
Egilsstadir - Myvatn and Akureyri
We drive through the sand desert of Mödrudalur to the Lake Myvatn district, one of the Icelandic “pearls”
and internationally renowned bird-watching site. This area offers a wide spectrum of geological formations
and the geothermal activity with its spectacular coloured deposits and mud pools. Also here is another
possibility for Myvatn Natural Baths, the latest addition to the many attractions of the region. On the way
to Akureyri “The capital of the North” we visit Iceland 3rd largest and by some the most beautiful waterfall,
Godafoss “The fall of the Gods”. Overnight and dinner in Akureyri, (Hotel Edda or similiar).

Day 6
Akureyri - Reykjavik
On the way back to Reykjavik we pass through Skagafjordur the “home” of the Icelandic Horse. We visit
the Folk Museum Glaumbaer, one of very few remaining original turf houses left in Iceland. Picnic on the
way, weather allowing. Through Borgarfjördur and the tunnel at Hvalfjördur we land in Reykjavik in the
afternoon. Overnight and a nice farewell dinner in Reykjavik.

Day 7
Departure and transfer back to the airport.
