Intended audience
This tutorial is specifically designed for those who are interested or active in designing mobile experiences for size-constrained devices. It is intended to appeal to a broad audience, such as designers, mobile service developers, network operators, service providers, usability specialists, experience planners, and HCI researchers. The tutorial is intended for people with genuine interest or ground experience in either user interface design or usability work. No advanced technical expertise is required.
Abstract
With the stunning level of changes and competition coming from the top mobile OS platforms (there are now nine different ones, each with its own closed-off world), designing a great user experience in the simplest possible way is more than ever a complex task. This means that designers, developers and experience planners need to adopt new and innovative ways of thinking for creating great user experiences towards mobile applications and services.
The aim of the tutorial is to provide the participants with a clear definition of Mobile User Experience, but also processes, frameworks and tools to translate User Experience into successful and appealing design. Participants will get an insight into the issues that surround the development of mobile applications and services and how to approach these from a user experience design point of view. The tutorial is based on the latest research and hands-on development of mobile services at two of the mobile industry's largest companies.
