Objectives  

     • Shed light on local and global issues in museum education. Priorities and processes in
       making a creative learning environment in a global context
     • Examine current trends and museum education strategies

1. Museum Education in a Global Context

Possible content of papers in session 1:
What is the role of the museum in interaction with its immediate environment, nationality and other cultures? The museum’s obligations to its own community and the global community? Cultural diversity, language diversity.


2. Priorities of Museum Education in a Global Context

Possible content of papers in session 2:
How does the museum function as a creative entity, not an immutable monument to the ever-changing subject? What is the museum’s priority when it comes to education? Is education “only” a service? How is museum education promoted? Should the museum promote understanding, tolerance and social consciousness? Is the museum a forum for exchanging views?


3. Processes of Museum Education in a Global Context

Possible content of papers in session 3:
Does museum education provide freedom for the creation of understanding? Do museum visitors have a choice in how they approach exhibitions? What stories are being told? Exhibitions as creative learning environments.
